English For Beginners

This course is perfect for students who are learning English as a second language and want to build their skills and feel more confident using it every day. Through fun, interactive lessons, we help students build their speaking skills and enjoy learning English in a supportive environment.

Format

We know that every student’s learning journey is different, so we’ve made this course flexible to fit their needs. Students can join for as few as 5 sessions (morning or afternoon) or take part in a full two-week programme. We’ll design a timetable that works for them and focuses on the areas they want to improve most.

Assessment

At the start of the course, we’ll do a short assessment to understand each student’s current level of English. This helps us place them in the right class where they’ll feel comfortable and challenged. At the end of the course, they’ll take the assessment again so we can see how much they’ve progressed - and we’re happy to share those results with their school if requested.

Curriculum

Our lessons are lively and interactive, covering exciting and relevant topics that students enjoy. The syllabus is designed to help them make real progress, and our experienced, enthusiastic teachers create a fun, positive classroom atmosphere that feels very different from regular school lessons.

By the end of the course, each student will prepare and give a presentation on a topic they care about - showing off their new skills and celebrating how far they’ve come! Advanced Academic English

This course is designed for students who already have a strong foundation in written and spoken English and want to take their skills to the next level. The English required for academic success—whether at GCSE, A Level, or beyond - goes far beyond everyday conversation. Elevate Your English bridges the gap, combining two essential elements: advanced academic language and cultural literacy.

Academic Language Improvement

We focus on the language skills that are key to academic achievement yet often challenging for non-native speakers. This course covers a wide range of techniques, from critical analysis and forming arguments to mastering essay writing, presenting, and debating. Every element is designed to help students achieve greater fluency and precision in academic English.

Students will learn how to analyse articles, studies, and research papers, while sharpening their critical writing skills. They’ll gain confidence in structuring arguments with clarity, precision, and the appropriate academic tone—ensuring they write with authority and insight. By developing these essential academic tools, students will be equipped to communicate their ideas effectively and achieve top outcomes in exams and academic assessments.

This insight into English for academic purposes empowers students with the skills they need to excel, giving them the confidence to apply to or succeed within English-speaking academic settings.

Cultural Literacy

At our summer school, we believe that mastering a language means understanding the culture that shapes it. Building cultural literacy gives students valuable insight into the contexts, customs, and perspectives that influence how English is spoken and written. This cultural understanding helps them navigate idioms, humour, and social cues—enabling them to communicate with greater confidence and authenticity. Through exploring British culture alongside their language development, students don’t just learn English—they learn to engage, connect, and express themselves meaningfully in an English-speaking world.

We bring this cultural literacy to life through a rich programme of cultural trips and experiences. Students visit iconic landmarks, museums, and historical sites, deepening their knowledge of British history, art, and society. Alongside these excursions, they’ll take part in workshops and discussions led by experts from a range of fields, offering fresh perspectives and sparking thoughtful debate. These experiences not only broaden students’ understanding of English culture but also nurture critical thinking, analysis, and reflection—giving them a deeper, more meaningful context for their language learning.
